Electro Tharwat has achieved a second major milestone in the development of Libya’s power grid by energizing the Janzour 220KV GIS Substation, following the energization of the Obari 220KV GIS Substation last year. Both projects are used to evacuate power from the recently constructed power plants, for electricity transmission, and essential for Libya’s grid stability. Electro Tharwat participated in these projects as GE’s contractor for the on-shore works, including the in-land logistics required to transport GE’s equipment to the Sites, as well as the supervision and performance of the GIS and Transformer installation, testing & commissioning works.

Electro Tharwat has managed to successfully complete and commission the complete on shore works the Obari 220KV GIS Substation in Libya, in the midst of turmoil in the region and the COVID-19 pandemic, making this the first substation, globally, that GE has executed remotely, through the use of Electro Tharwat’s GE certified personnel for the supervision of the erection, testing & commissioning works of GE’s GIS, Transformer and DCS equipment.
